My Melee Scout build

Most likely won't even roll this, however I'd like feedback.

If you have any questions ask me.

Main idea here is to get in close and try knocking the other player down, slaughter housing and skill spamming.

No lvl 3 lunge? Really?
No Merciless...it really should be your opener, melee or not.
No Recoil decreases the chance of you running off...
Rank 3 Steady with rank 3 Slide? You will be using ONE(1) of them. Having 2 skills that do the same thing and are nigh identical is...waste of points.
No flash = less survival for you...

fire3 = more DPS in groups/raids
Rank 3 caltrops arent all that awesome. The mob/player will be trippin at most 3 times, rank 1 or 3. The duration doesnt increase.

This will be my build. Its all IMHO OFC, but thats what I will be specing into today or sometime shortly.

Are melee builds still viable? I mean...scouts are squishy and don't survive very long and they been nerfed to the max. Their damage looks great though in group raids but in pvp it looks like you will be spending most of your time in Purgatory. Your build also looks like you will be meat for psi's. You being melee in the hopes of them being fixed in the future or what?

I did mention I wanted this to be mostly for 1v1 PvP, however wouldn't caltrops level 3 be much better in mass PvP with the bigger radius? I do notice that with level 1 caltrops the other player will most likely fall no matter what so I'm not really worried about the percent chance on knockdown, mostly the radius of it. I know the radius doesn't matter at all in 1v1 PvP. I don't know, I changed it anyway.


Why no vigilance on your build?

Also, do you know if the effect of tranquil lasts longer with a higher rank or no?

Tranquil doesnt last longer with rank, which is a pity.
Sorry, no vigilance on my build because I dont intend to do a lot of PvP. Melee scouts suck in that field a lot unfortunately. However, YOU will need it if your gonna PvP. Dont forget the anti+poisonous powder, its an awesome combo vs mage's reflections + it does some decent damage.(and is the only aoe we get :(

IMO, a 2yrd increase is hardly worth 5 skill points. However, if you think you can spare those points then go ahead man.

Stalker built scouts are actually superior to snipers in PvE, Cornered effect.
A Stalker can raise the DPS of the melee DPS in the group by a rather large percentage.
Look at it this way:
A typical melee-DPS will have his hits...
Parried(-50% dmg), Blocked(-75% dmg) or Dodged(-100% dmg) about 50% of the time(all of those in sum ofc) So...if you remove the mob's ability to Parry/Block/Dodge...their dps is gonna go waaaay up.
This also benefits the tank who now doesnt have to worry about missing a hit and loosing agro.

Sorry for double post, forgot to critique build.

First off.
You have your Steady Shot at Rank 1, yet you have 7 talents that boost it.(Rapid Fire, Heavy Tip, Precision)
Either drop the talents and put them else where, or drop Slide of Hand and relocate those 6 points.

IMO, that 3rd talent of Initiative could be used else where. As your rage will be about 50 or so %, a 60% increase in it will most likely be an overkill.

Is Kanian Blinding shot Racial still the "best" for a melee scout? And I didn't know scouts could hold 2 swords. I made a low lvl melee scout and couldn't wield the dual fists. Just bow + 1 handed weapon.

well fists are different than swords...

Scouts can use Any dual weapon and single hand weapon.
Yea, Kanian or(!)(IRONIC!) gibberlings would make a better melee scout.
Kanians can blind = extra disable = win.
Gibberlings can = trap to prevent enemy from running away or to avoid being kited.
Also, a nice fight-starting skill.
Trap>Sprint>knockdown>own. (makes sure the enemy doesnt run off spamming instant-cast abilities at you as they go)

Alas, my Stalker is back on RU Servers, the highest lvl I have on NA is a lvl 13 Kanian Warrior(Perai).

PS: You really want that 3rd talent of Initiative huh...you could use it to get: +5% Expertise, +5% Finesse or +11% dodge ye know..
