Maxed out 30+ FPS requirment..

Postby saad_baig » Mon Apr 09, 2012 8:26 am

So I am wondering what it would take to have this game completely maxed out including 16x AA and AT. Either this game requires a lot or my dual core is just bottlenecking my graphics card, because I would think that my HD 6670 1GB GDDR5 graphics card would be able to completely max this game out, yet I rarely think I average more than 20FPS. And at yaskers, I think that would go down to like 5FPS average...

I can play Crysis 2 on High
Battlefield 3 on Medium

And I can't fully max out Allods??

I am wondering because I am going to be building my i5 2550k computer really soon, and I just wanna play every game I have with absolute smoothness..

I am thinking of either keeping the 6670, or selling it and getting either 2 6850's or 1 6870 OC.

You need to factor in more than just your graphics card when you want to increase your framerate in MMORPG's. If you're in a populated area like yasker's tower, the game is accessing hundreds of files each second when players come in view for their models, that's hard drive dependent to load and CPU heavy to maintain them in the area.

edit: ideally you would want to raid0 2 SSD's dedicated to whatever game you want to play at the time, be it allods in this case. as for CPU, basically the higher ghz the better, which most modern i5-i7's have support for with the Turbo Boost. Allods only makes good use of 1-2 cores at a time, so high core count doesn't really help.

The game is as optimized as GlaDos in a potato. You're better off trying not to maximize it.

Why? I always play on highest details, even in GT I don't lower anything.

@OP - first of all, 16x AA is useless. There is little difference between that and 4x. Except that the game draws each frame 16 times before displaying it, instead of 4. Consider the quality of graphics you would sacrifice for the FPS... it's a lot of FPS gain. Forcing AA through graphics drivers and disabling it through the game may help you get better performance with that, though.

Anyway, in MMOs the most valuable resource is RAM. You need at least 3gigs to run Allods smoothly on high details. If you have something like 2 gigs with Windows Vista/7, I can see why you're having problems.

For people who do consistenly run smoothly what are your graphics cards?

One E8500 (3.16GHz)
Two 1GB DDR2 RAM (333.4 MHz each)
Seagate 200GB IDE HD (Used to have a Maxtor as a slave drive, but power supply downgrade couldn't support it.)
Sapphire Radeon HD 3850 1GB GDDR2

I run max settings and quite a lot of additional add-ons. This game only uses a single core by default; so realistically I'm only using 1.6 GHz as well.

Edit: Only time my game chokes up is just before it reaches the maximum limit provided by my RAM. (About 1.8GB; happens a lot with the memory leak.)

Intel i3-2100 3,1GHz
4Gigs (3 usable, due to 32bit windows 7) of some RAM. It's good, I paid extra for that, just the two RAM-things are a piece of art and the specs were good but I don't remember them.
ATI RADEON 5670 512 MB.

I run everything well on this machine. Haven't tried BF3, but I am not going to play it just because it is a technical achievement.

Disable caching textures to RAM, should help a lot. Because it only caches them, it never clears the cache.

I already know this; also not using pathing, high-textured spells increases the time you can stay in game without crashing. (One of the reasons I became a summy healer.)

I was just stating that the reason I crash is because my RAM gets choked by the game at 1.8+GB, so it shuts it down.

Well this game doesnt seem to have very efficient coding. I can run games like bf3, crysis, call of duty, and many others are medium to max settings without lag. In allods having the settings on high or lowest makes barely any difference for me. Average of 10- 20 fps in astral, at times it will shoot up to 60 for about a minute, then drop to 5-10 fps. Pvp i get an average of 15-25, high points of 60+, lowpoints of 1 fps. I will get points where the game will drop to 1-3 fps and i have to restart client. Checking task manager shows the game usually not using even half of my memory or cpu power even while cpu and memory usage is low. Its very annoying to have my fps jump to 60+fps randomly and the game seems to go in fast forward, even in a very heated battle, and then drop to a 1-5fps at random and goes slow motion. I have plenty of memory and cpu available while i am getting 5 fps. i guess it just bad coding and memory leaks. It only seems to get worse each patch

4gb ddr3 memory
1gb nvidia gt420
intel i5 quad core 2.8ghz
windows 7 x64

with these specs i get the same constant shuttering at high and low settings.
