Xubuntu

Postby belceb » Sat Mar 24, 2012 9:41 am

Hello, there is any way to make 3.0 work on Xubuntu (WINE or something?)
I was using windows, but recently i switch to xubuntu, and i want to still play the game without using bill's system (not going to dual... windows seems to dislike not being the 1st priority system...)
I read that it had bad reviews in wine site, but nobody seems to have tried with 3.0, and since much changed... just hoping for good news :3

I'm not certain about Xubuntu (or any linux distro for that matter), but in my experience Allods is very picky about only running on a normal windows environment. I mean, Allods wouldn't even launch when I try to run it through a proxy to bypass a firewall.

Considering the such a significant portion of hacks / hackers come from Russia, it makes sense that Allods would have some tight security.

Yea it'll run in a VM but that'd be painfully slow. Why not dual boot windows?

For 3 reasons mostly
1-I have no cd player xd
2-Waste of space <_<
3-Since xubuntu is the priority boot system, put windows can cause some problems in the grub (or so i read)

If u say it's safe i can try , though, CD players are expensive, and i kinda wouldn't use it except for this, couldn't find any usb version except the one with the face of Angelina... and seems to be a live cd, so... there is anything i can do? I would use xp if possible.

1. Install by usb (There are these programs which do all the stuff for you and convert a windows image for usb boot. In fact last time i installed an OS by dvd/cd was more than a decade back.)
2. XP is like 500mb?
3. You'll have to fix grub if you install xp

Well, i tried, but it says i can't create the folder for installation (aka write disc :x), that with 1 program, with other, stays on an screen that says default and a counter restarts over and over, so it never does anything, any solution? (sorry if it is a bummer, found the problem but nobody helped the person so i have nothing else to do than ask u xd)
