There are only two ways to get searing pain to proc, vortex and tiger's strike. Tiger's Strike is paired fist only, so vortex would be your skill de jour for both caster and 2h melee.

As such, the only real difference would be using upgraded wolf's blow's ability to deal a big crit following a searing pain -> shred combo. The size of the dmg here would be governed by how much you've invested in wolf's blow and the 2-hander rubies, but I, personally, feel it detracts too much from either getting our pet dmg rubies (which is the main source of DPS when using searing pain anyways) or our lightning and beer rubies.

possibly, I'm not sure.

I'm talking about searing pain though. With upgraded wolf's blow (Lion's blow) you get to deal double the damage you normally do for the immediate attack following a successful SP combo.

As far as I can tell, this is the only reason to bother with any of the talent points and rubies involved in getting 2h-melee to a respectable level.

With SP, you arent going to use Tornado unless your pet is dead

Oh right I forgot tornado is channeled, so it's kinda screwing the whole searing pain combo, ok so thanks for clarifying that, I'ma stay with my 2h melee build
