New to game and sense of class questions/observations

Postby hokyoji » Thu Aug 18, 2011 7:38 pm

Hello friends,

Pvp matters to me in playing an mmo so i am posting this here. I have played every archetype to level 6 or 8 except scout and warrior.

I like the feel of both melee healer and holy paladin. I hear much rumbling that melee healer has been and is up for nerfs but i don't know. My issue with the paladin (specced for physical dps at low level) is that he does the least damage of any of the types i have played, and by a huge margin. At endgame how are the paladins at pvp?

Side note: in wow (back in BC with the SL/SL locks) i played a resto shaman and loved it. In Aion i played chanter and enjoyed it. In Rift i played shaman (liked it okay) and mage (liked it okay).

My warden is pretty fun and does big damage. I also hear rumblings that warden is pretty OP. My melee healer also does great damage. My paladin struggles to do damage. I don't much care for scout or mage but they performed fine.

I have been shocked (i am really low level so looking for feedback from more experienced players) at how much damage my summoner does. I enjoy the feel of healing survivability and dots. People have said that the summoner is really strong in pvp. I have also heard that the heal on vamp is being removed. Can anyone confirm this? What would that do to the class without vamp?

Psionicist i love the idea of but the playstyle felt too slow.

I may stick with the summoner if they will stay decent. If the summoner is eating the bone with the next patch then i am looking at melee healer or paladin or warden.

Anyone with experience with warden, paladin, cleric, and/or summoner i would like to hear your experience and feedback on playing those classes in pvp or playing against them.

Thanks

vampheal is the long time only nerf to summoners. damage done compared to other classes is decent, dps can slightly compare to be on the better half of the meter.

the vampnerf essentially means youll use the other heals a lot more.

Some more questions if you please. Thanks for the reply.

For the summoners do the racials really matter that much? Seems like they are not make or break unless i am mistaken?

For summoners how do they perform in pvp?
How do holy paladins perform?
How do melee healers perform?
How about wardens?

The above are the toons i have enjoyed so far. I think i might like my melee healer a bit more than my warden but warden seems like it could be pretty fun and dynamic at higher levels with all the shocks, knockdowns, open wounds and such.

no idea ow pally and healer will actually perform in the future due to some revamps i didnt bother reading into much/at all.

warden seems tog et a little damagetweak (nothing too serious seeing how theyre in/around the top positions for dps currently.

summi in pvp means kiting and trying not to be hit mostly (gets easier when you have maxed aegis and the reinc mage barrierspells at least for melee, for pure casters you can easily stand still and nuke them with all you got or just stick to their back to avoid beeing hit) the maindamage youll do in pvp when youre not standing comes from 2 dots and an assessment of bust procs, same goes for selfheals.

racials definitely matter for summoner, elven racial sucks, it just rly does, next to no dps/heals from that dot long cd high manacost.
savants one is decent its a long cd fullpetheal (if you REALLY REALLYREALLY have to play an emogothiccharacter then go arisen and pick that one up)

the pole position clearly goes to the xadaganian racial 8first of all you get the best looking pets) its a 3min cd 30% str and expertise increase for the pet (it was improved to also work for magic pets like lurker and fiend according tot heir magic stats).

now that is a SERIOUS dps increase and really reliable as a pro cooldown.

keep in mind all racials should be castable when silenced unless tha got ninjapatched somewhere and i didnt notice.

basically the best tip i could possibly give to you, is to go tot he classforums and rea dup some guides to get all details per class and make your decision.

keep in mind though they are changing healers to having to focus more on what they mainly do so mhs healingabilities go down a bit fromw hat i heard, pallies seem to get some decent buffs that should make them easier to play barrierwise with less singletargetdps (accordng to their forums at least lulz)

when you say reinc mage barrier spells i guess you mean you choose mage as your reinc?

i was a bit unclear about how that works but i will try to read up on it.

sounds like it sort of gives you a second character you can switch your main out from even in combat?

EDIT:
I see. With reincarnation you can have your progenitor use some of your incarnations skills. So this would let a summoner use some mage barrier spells. Thx.

the incarnation would also run the progs spell whereas both get both abilities to chose from and prog only gets them unlocked when the inc hits 45.
