English Navigator 3D

Postby thadarkrav3r » Sun Nov 21, 2010 10:52 am

After contacting the author of Navigator 3D, who wouldn't quite reply, (maybe cuz my russian wasn't very good (online translator  ) or he doesn't speak english..

I decided to translate the original Navigator 3D program (which is in Russian) to english. In this way u can use the tool and navigate far more efficient (since you can use the normal sectors names).

After a few hours of translating weird characters (my computer didn't want to show russian characters ), i managed to translate all russian text to english!

Awesome! - Thanks, this'll clear up a lot of confusion about how to label the sectors when sharing maps with fellow captains and make it easier to teach new navs the art.

Thank you, great job! :D

Maybe one day I'll finally learn to use this program... I'm a bit too attached to my rubber ball maps though :(

Thx both :D

Hope the english version helps u to learn navigating ;)

The next thing ima try is making Navigator 3D say how many emanations you need for a specific route (it says how many hold routes you need now). OK, calculating shouldn't be that hard... but i'm lazy and don't wna calc... so i'm trying to decompile the .exe

For those who don't know what decompiling is:
A .exe is made of various other files (.data .txt etc.), compiling is making those files into 1 .exe, decompiling is making 1. exe into the source files.
Which is kinda like making a cow out of a hamburger...

Btw, huh? Rubber balls  like your room is the whole astral, and objects are the sectors (like your bed is gold or so? xD) and you got rubber balls lying all over? (the hubs) or are you just drawing on a rubber ball :P

Well, the exact emination requirements differ between ships and skill of the navigator.

The exact cost of a locked hub can range from 13 to 7 AE's depending on scanner. While a good navigator can cross a 3 hub jump for little or no eminations (50/50 chance of needing a change route command, again with a variable AE cost), while other may have to lock it.

What's this?:
If you mean the tool: it's usefull for people who want to map the astral, so then can easily travel in there (ok, it changes once in a while, then u just map it over) or who are lazy and don't wna write everything down or remember everything (12 sectors with each 22 hubs and the connections between the hubs)

If mean the translation? If so, it's usefull for starting navigators. Or (once again) people who are lazy and don't wna write down or remember which tab is which sector.

If you mean the amount of emanations, i just threw away that idea

Skypirate - you can't talk you get lost for hours. Sure you nav there and back fine but the journey time could be slashed in half with a bit of planning ;p

Did you even realise that this week empire and kania are just 3 jumps apart? - Of course if you tried scanning and following the marker you could end up needing as many as 15 jumps ;p

yep, I have been farming in sulfur silver and chromium quite constantly and have gotten it down to needing around 60 eminations both ways, E.G kill 3 devourers. Don't see the need. Especially when astral travel is 10 times more fun then killing things in allods.

Besides getting lost is half the fun. I dont like going on ships where it's down to a simple farm farm farm. I like getting lost fighting demons surpise ships and the works. I cant wait for tuesdays next shuffle. Then ill get more fun learning the new hubs. Yes im the guy who irl knows one way to get to work so tries getting lost and randomly driving in the goals general location.
