Custom emotes were restored in the latest major content patch (and do not work across faction, the only text notice across faction is a notice that you can't hear something being said by someone you can't get the ID/name of); the latest version of WhisperWindow has a (pathetic attempt at) restored target recognition for emotes.
I role-played for probably the major portion of my computer life. The whole reason I type this way is owed to a bet between a friend and I about who could type presentably for a week in a game full of leet speakers. (Terrible bet, but a bet none-the-less.)
I stopped role-playing very shortly after joining WoW quite a few years ago (as there was no time in the hassle of all that "gameplay") and I never went back to it. I still type about a chapter or two of text (or code) a day but nothing as close to the novel length stories and such of old (which was almost hourly). I could never feel comfortable single-handedly writing a book, like Deaderaco might be.
That being said, I was never really much of a character developer; perhaps because I don't like the idea of a concrete character that is cut and dry. I've never made back stories for who I was when I role-played; I was an "All in the moment, like." kind of person.
I hate reading, writing, and English.
