Lords of Destiny has brought in many changes, one of the most important being the revamped Astral and thrilling guild vs. guild battles. Even though everyone was excited about these changes, they were still players unsure of some of the mechanics… Would they be able to gain power and resources, and defeat the guild that always stood in their way to total domination?
Fear not! We have a very special guide for you that will uncover many of the Dominion War’s secrets. This information will help you to plan your tactics, and prepare to bring down your enemies.
The Battle of the Dominion
The Battle of the Dominion is a new guild PvP activity and a good way to gain glyphs needed to increase the power of your equipment.
How to join Dominion?
To take part in the battle, a character must reach level 55, belong to a guild that is at least level 10, and have a supply of Dominion keys.
You receive 5 keys each week from the same quest that rewards one with Astral keys. This means you can participate in 5 Dominions per week.
The battles take place every hour, between 11:00 and 23:00. Players can join the battles 6 days a week, except Thursday, by opening the battleground interface (Ctrl+M).
You can queue for the battle alone or in a group – in which case, it’s the leader of the group who signs up on behalf of all the members.
If any of the group members decide not to participate in the battle, be aware that others members are able to join the battle at a later stage.
The Battle: be fast and smart!
Battle for Dominion is based on the principle of “Capturing Points” on a random map with 4 or more respawn points.
6 vs 6 players only, no escape!
The battle consists of two rounds, each of them taking 10 minutes. But is extended by 2 bonus minutes for each captured checkpoint.
In the 1st round one of the teams is assigned as defenders, and the other, as attackers. In the second round they switch roles.
The second round will not last longer than the first.
Capture of 4 checkpoints leads to a victory for the attackers in a round, but if the time runs out before all points are captured, the defenders win the round.
Taking over a point will begin when there are more attackers than defenders in the area of a control point. That means that whenever the number of attackers is higher than the number of defenders by at least one, capturing the flag will start.
Defending teams cannot recapture lost flags.
The Dominion Pet: never be alone on the battlefield!
Where to get them?
One of the important features of Dominion is allowing you to call pets – allies controlled by the game, who are similar to the mercenaries.
Your Allies can be looted in the Mysterious Astral by killing THE final boss of an allod! If you receive an Ally Sign, click-right on it to receive a quest, and go to the Port to finish the available quest.
Depending of the Ally Sign, you will receive one of the following items which allowing you to summon an Ally during Dominion:
Good news: you can upgrade your Allies from Common to Legendary by taking quests available in the port of your faction’s capital.
With each level gained, the Ally changes its appearance, gains new abilities, and improves performance in the battle. Allies take up to 30% of the damage aimed at their owners.
How to use them in Dominion?
Dominion Pets can only be used in Dominion battles. A character can have up to 3 pets, but only one of them can be summoned at one time. Also, a maximum of 3 pets in a group is allowed.
Each pet buffs the group with a unique ability which prevents summoning more pets of the same type.
Pets work in a similar way to Mercenaries, but they also have special skills to help their owners in the battle.
They enter the fight for 30 seconds that tip the balance of victory in favor of one of the conflicting parties. Every fighter in the group can have their own set of monsters to be summoned.
Sounds exciting, right?
Guild and Dominion (fame, stature, mightiness) exchanged
Guilds can gain access to an expanded range of glyphs sold by the NPC in the faction’s capital port. However, this will require the coordinated action of all guild members allowed to wear guild regalia.
Dominion territory is divided into sectors and the more of them your guild controls, the wider the range of available glyphs. However, before starting the battles, the guild must accumulate a special resource – Mightiness, that is formed from two other resources – Fame and (or) Stature, which can be gained for the guild by any member.
You can obtain Fame for their victories in all Dominion battles, and Stature as one of the trophies from bosses in the Mysterious Astral.
Fame and Stature work in exactly the same way, and the guild can turn them both into Mightiness, but you should keep in mind that uneven use of the resources reduces the effectiveness of the exchange.
– 3000 Fame and 1000 Stature can be converted to 15 Mightiness,
– 2000 Fame and 2000 Stature can be converted to 20 Mightiness,
– 0 Fame and 4000 Stature can be converted to 10 Mightiness.
Converting the accumulated Fame and Stature into Mightiness can be done only by the officers and guild leader. The transformation is paid with gold, and in addition, by paying 50% more gold, the guild resources can be exchanged for 10% more Mightiness (which means you get 10% more Mightiness as a result). Also, you should keep in mind that the maximum Mightiness a guild can accumulate is 750 units.
So, to sum up, there are three resources: PvE (Stature), PvP (Fame), and Mightiness resulting from the previous two. All resources gained by guild members are added to the guild’s total amount, and all the members have their part in Dominion:
- All guild members gain the guild’s Stature (PvE).
- Only players with guild regalia can gain Fame (PvP) for the guild. They also generate double amount of Stature (PvE).
- Champions participate in battles for the Dominion segments (Influence), and they generate both PvP and PvE resources, as well as gain triple amounts of Stature for the guild.
To summarize, each guild can gather 3 types of resources:
Battling for the zones: Guild Dominance
There are 20 segments in each sector, and you have to take over all of them in order to gain control over the sector, although even before this, the controlled segments will still bring profit to their owners.
Every Thursday, the guild officers decide which specific sectors guilds will start fighting for, and try to gain influence with them during the following 7 days. These sectors are marked with a tactical flag, and in one sector a guild can have only one tactical flag.
All of the available Mightiness of the guild is equally distributed among all the sectors in which flags are placed.
However, the more of them there are, the higher the fine – which is subtracted from the total number of Mightiness before distribution.
For example, if the guild has 500 units of Mightiness, the amount invested in the first flag will be 100% (no penalty). However, if there are two flags, each of them will get less than 250 units of Mightiness (penalty applied to the initial 500 and the resulting amount distributed equally), and so on.
The minimal amount of Mightiness required to set up a flag is 10 points. In addition, a guild willing to put a flag in a segment must have Mightiness of no lower than 1/3 of the amount that the most powerful guild has, but there is no fixed cost.
Because of the penalty (20% of Mightiness) applied for each next bid, the number of segments owned by one guild cannot exceed 20.
The Champion Battles: will you survive to the Tournament?
“Champion Battle” (Tournament Battle) is a battle that has 6 members of rival guilds on each side, and there is at least one champion in each group.
“Champion Battles” take place every half hour from 20:00 to 21:00 on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, whereas regular battles are scheduled to start each hour from 11:00 to 23:00, and additionally at 20:30 and 21:30 each day except Thursday.
Each “Champion Battle” awards the guild with the Influence Points in the segment, which are totaled after 7 days, and on Thursdays, based on the amount of Influence Points gained, it is decided which segments in each sectors are given to a guild.
The Points of Influence
The winning team of the “Champion Battle” will receive Guild Points of Influence, which are based on Mightiness and the relative rates set for the sector.
Example: Guild A goes into a battle with 200 units of Mightiness, and Guild B with 400. If Guild A wins, they get 50 influence. But, if Guild B wins, they get 200 Influence, because they have more mightiness.
So, as mentioned before, after a battle the winning group receives Points of Influence in the sector, and the amount collected at the end of the Dominion week (Thursday) will decide the number of segments the guild receives.
How influence is calculated?
The Influence of the guild is calculated at the end of the week and depends on the following factors:
- Amount of Influence.
– Whether this guild already owns the sector or not.
– Whether the sector is occupied or neutral.
The Dominion Map
How segments are divided?
The segments are distributed between the participating guilds.
Initially, all segments of the Dominion are neutral. They also become neutral if a guild removes their tactical flag from it.
At the end of the week all the neutral segments are apportioned among all the guilds competing for them.
In addition to that, every week a guild can take over 5 segments already controlled by someone else, if there are any claims.
Thus, the neutral sector can be captured quickly. However, the total time to capture a sector controlled by another guild will take at least 2 weeks (with 5 sector each Thursday).
Until all 20 segments have been captured, a guild continues to own the sector as long as it controls at least one segment, but invaders will get some bonuses because of the “selected” segments.
If a guild has completely lost control of the sector, the guild that captures all 20 segments will become the owner.
To get the maximum benefit, you need to gain full control of the segments that are in the neighborhood, which will bring additional revenue.
If you click on any guild in the list on the right, you can see all the sectors under its control, as well as the sectors to which it claims rights.
Rewards for owning sectors
The Dominion Map is divided into 6 zones (10-11 segments each):
- 3 areas are common, giving 100% reward for a segment inside the sector.
– 2 areas are improved, giving 125% reward for a segment inside the sector.
– 1 is the most profitable, giving 150% reward.
How to uncover more Dominion map?
Each sector is numbered. They differ in size (small, medium, large) and color (green, orange – similar to the quality of items). The larger and higher the quality of sector owned by the guild, the higher the bonus received from it.
Sectors can be improved in both quality and size, and the capturing of interconnected sectors brings additional bonuses. You can also see the capture process in the picture, with sectors 16, 21 and 22 serving as examples. Yellow and red rings indicate the amount of controlled segments.
Dominion map progression depends on the delivery of the registries of “suitable quality” gained by players in Astral. They should be turned in to the Dominion vendor, and each of them gives 10 gold.
Over time, the areas on the map receive points according to their type, and when the amount reaches a certain value, the area starts to change color – “turns blue”, etc.
The map gets a weekly update, if players turn in more than 500 registries of the astral deposits. Keep in mind that you cannot select which sectors are going to progress.
Depending on the number of weeks, the vendor accepts different registries:
So from weeks 0 – 7 the vendor accepts green and higher quality registries, from 8 to 12 – blue and higher, and so on.
Each week that the required amount of registries are turned in, the map gains points, and once it reaches a certain amount of points, sectors of higher quality will appear.
