Alchemy GUIDE

Postby lawful » Fri Feb 12, 2010 10:44 pm

I haven't seen a guide to Alchemy around here so guess i'll make one out of the current resources that i have.

1. Introduction

What is alchemy? How does it work?
Alchemy is a special profession in the world of Allods online wich enables you to create different potions wich will increase your overall ability for a certain period of time, or even poisons for that matter.
Alchemy Potions are usually made out of two ingredients:
1. Herbs that are collected by herbalists
2. Reagent potions that are sold by the Alchemy NPC trainer.

I will warn you that alchemy is quite a expenssive art to be learnt, most people in the low levels will have a hard time ranking it up and most of the potions will be quite non-profitable to make and reagents are expenssive.

With that set lets get on to the mini guide about it.

2. Mechanics

After you learn alchemy from the trainer, you will have to buy a novice Potion making Flask, after wich you use it, a new window will pop up with 2 collumns in it, thats where you put your ingredients.
At first the potions you can make are the most simple ones consisting out of two reagent types.

But as you skill up your Alchemy you will be enabled to use advanced tools wich have more collumns for you to use extra reagents and create more advanced potions.

To create a potion you need to insert two items into the collumns, at first you will have to start out with normal reagents to increase your skill a bit.

And as you increase your skill, new potion recepies will be available for you to work with.

As you see to make the first basic potion you will need to have two Eye reagents lined up. When you press the Boiling button and your potion starts combining, it will be like a Roulette and to create a potion you will need two of the eyes to be on the same line , for that when the roulette stops, you may correct the results a bit by pressing the Arrows on the collumns and either change a collumn to go up or down a bit to relocate your reagents and create a potion successfully.

Nota that the reason why its expenssive to work with alchemy at first is because you need two reagents to use wich cost almost 10 silver each, thus you have to spend 20 silver for one attempt of Alchemy wich will NOT guaranteed increase your expertise. Thus you might end up spending several dozens of gold before you can start making decent potions.

At skill rank 94 you will have access to the next Flask and will be able to combine more advanced potions.

3. List of Potions and Herbs.

I don't have the Herb's precise names at the moment so i'll update the guide with them as soon as Allods will go live into Open Beta.

This is the list of solvents available from the Alchemist NPC and what each respective solvent provides with.

Nice guide. 1 question though. Do the ingrediants not really matter then? For example any 2 items with the eye icon for their uses can be used to make stain remover.

I can answer that one...Yes as the stain remover requires 2 blinding agents (eyeballs)
as long as the eyeballs are labeled as blinding agents on the herb/solvent then it will/should work! :)

The solvent reagents are incorrect.

While levelling alchemy, I used 2 Alchemical Absorbients around skill level 40 or so. Those helped a lot in levelling up the Alchemy, as they allow you to adjust more the columns after boiling the mats.

Now what happened to me was, that around skill level 100 or so, all my alchemical absorbients disappared. Anyone know if this is intended or a bug perhaps? Or do they reset always after each X00 skill levels?

I hope someone understood what I was trying to explain here. :)

Can I recommend adding to your guide a picture pointing out the button for adjusting a boil result? It took me a lot of time and cash before I realized there were up and down arrows that allowed me to adjust the "slot game" result for a boil and end up with a MUCH higher level of success.

When leveling up Alchemy does it matter what pots you make? For example will you continue to gain skill points from low level combinds? Or does it scale out where the skill points will only rise from your "higher" lvl combinds?

Thanks!

Yes, you must create potions from the most basic formula and continue progressing with more complex formulas. Your alchemy level will increase as you do this.
