Possibly to afk lvl herbalism?

I'm wondering whether it's possible to stand on a safe spot (where herbs spawn) and jam your Z button to lvl herbalism.

Mostly because the lame way it's designed at the moment. At the lvl 10 area (siveria) most herbs required 140+ herbalism, so it was really hard to lvl it there, and then after finally being able to lvl it again between there and darkwater, i can't lvl it anymore at tenebra and holylands.

Tenebra and holylands only have herbs that require 190+ herbalism, so it's basicly impossible to level my herbalism there (i have 169 at the moment).
That's why i'm wondering if it's possible to find a safe spot in darkwater, and just jam my Z button there for the night, so that it keeps on gathering and lvling herbalism for the night. Even if this only gives 10-20 lvl's, it's still really welcome, since at the moment i dont even gain 1 lvl of herbalism anymore...

what me do is quest like normal and just gather whatever herbs me can, it keeps me herbalism maxed at all time by doing this.

and if it be a little bit low, me suppose you can level it up while doing the daily perfume quest.

actually, i always gathered any herb i saw, I even went out of my way of the shortest ways, to gather more herbs. In any normal game that would easily max out my herbalism, which was even the case in this one. Until they made the mistake of putting nearly only lvl 140 herbs at a lvl 10-11 area, so it was impossible to lvl it well there, so now i'm stuck at lvl 22 with 169 herbalism, and only 190+ herbs to gather (which i cant gather)

thats' why i want to afk lvl it if possible, to get it back to 190+ so that i can use it again

The herbal nodes take ages to respawn, on the order of half an hour, and the dots don't always appear in exactly the same spots, so you'll probably have to move to harvest them when they do respawn.

Your best bet would probably be to do "laps" around a map where you know all the herb patches, by the time you complete one circuit the first might have respawned. Oh, but watch out for other Herbalists, as you're all competing for the same herbs. They should be instanced, to me, but... well, they're not.

Even if the spawn point was the same, and you could jam your Z button, it wouldnt work cos once your bag fills up, it probably wont pick anymore up after the first herb queues outside the bag, plus sometimes im having to pick 3-4 herb to level 1 point so even if your bag was empty, you are looking at 5-6 levels a night.
I could do more than that just by running around myself for 1 hour specifically targetting herbs.

Easy answer is go back to Darkwater, its only down the road from where you probably are.

In hindsight you should have levelled 10 every time your Char levels. Thats what ive been doing (well... almost)

My problem seems to be what to do with these damn herbs.

I cant see that they are worth anything at AH after checking so i tend to dump them regulary just to create room in my bag for levelling up!

At what level do we need to be to start making some decent coin from this gathering profession??

As someone who is just levelling Herbalism as I quest I am surprised anyone is struggling with their skillups. I have been capped out for quite a while.

Then again, I solo a lot. I guess if I grouped a lot I'd probably be a bit slower.

I've encountered the same problem moving from Novograd to Siveria. I gather all the time when I'm travelling, picking up herbs whenever the little "z" pops up in the hot keys. I thought I was doing pretty good with herbalism in the 90s by the time I left for Siveria, but then I get there and I don't have enough skill for every herb I run across.

Good to know that I'm shooting for 140 to get the Siveria herbs at least. That lets me know how long I need to go back and wander around Novograd harvesting.

As for the guy whos dumping herbs to make room in his pack, you should find an alchemist to give them to. You may not get much at the moment, but you'll establish a relationship and that alchemist should be grateful enough to pay you in potions or gold later.

I have an alternate character who is an alchemist, so my herbalist funnels herbs to him whenever it is time to clear the pack.
