[2.0.06] Leveling as a Caster Healer!

[2.0.06] Leveling as a Caster Healer!

Enjoy!

Introduction to the Caster Healer
Caster Healer - not something people usually think of.. at least not until now! It used to be that if you wanted to level, you probably rolled a Melee Healer. Well, not anymore! Even now, it seems like the strict Melee Healer is going obsolete.

And so I bring you.. the Caster Healer Leveling guide! I hope that you all will find this guide useful and maybe even contribute a little of it to yourself! I am always looking for contributions if anyone has done testing that might tell me "hey, your build sucks. try this."

This build is mainly for leveling. I make no claims that it will get you anywhere but tossed in a bucket if you try to use this for endgame. It is also centered to be useful in PVP - but it's not a strict PVP build either. I wanted to make it so that you have some survivability, good PVP skills that will get you through Asee-Teph and on, and yet still be able to pack a punch good enough to kill things.

I really hope you all will enjoy my guide! Thank you!

notable contributions: no one yet!

Important Stats
Faith > Wisdom > Luck > Intelligence > Perception

Faith now acts as your Perception with Aspect of Light up. 10-15% Perception is good enough for you to start beating things down but you'll probably get more Faith anyhow.

Wisdom is your main stat for mana and mana regen. It's very useful.

Luck gives you more crit and less chance to deal a glancing blow.

Intelligence boosts your damage! Likely, though, this will always remain low.

Perception is your chance to hit something. Don't worry about this stat so much as Faith takes care of that for you now.

Builds Through the Levels

Level 10: See here.
Level 20: And now here..
Level 30: Here too!
(I couldn't figure out how many talent points it takes to get from 30 to 47 so.. :( My math is probably wrong anyways)
Level 47: And finally here.

Leveling Through the Ages
Levels 1 - 10

Congratulations on starting up the game and making your first character! The quests from the time you get out of your respective starting area to until you move on are fairly straightforward. At level 5, you make the proud advancement of being able to make your first decisive skill point purchase!

From here, you'll be questing through either Nezebgrad (E) or Lightwood (L). At level 7, you'll be able to get your racial skill! If you are a Xadaganian, you can obtain this by seeking out Elizaveta Rysina in the basement of Yasker's Tower. For Arisen, you can get it from Negus Kheket on the top circle of Yasker's Tower. For Kanian's, you can find your racial skill questgiver, Ibor Yavorsky, in the top of Aidenus' Tower. I do not know the Elven NPC that gives the racial quest - if anyone can tell me, I will put it down!

At level 10, you can finally do XAES (E) or Oreshek Fortress (L)! This is an opportunity to finish up some World Mystery quests and also be able to get some neat gear if you're lucky. Also, congratulations on being able to pick up your first Ruby! Head to your trainer and buy it as soon as possible.

Levels 11 - 15

Once you are 11, you should be finishing up your quests in Nezebgrad (E) or Lightwood (L). Once you are, feel free to head over to IMD (E) or Siveria (L)! These are both fairly colorful but annoying areas. You'll be out of here soon, do not worry!

Other than that, these are some fairly uneventful levels.

Levels 16 - 22

You're so close to being able to move onto the fun and enraging parts of the game.. Hang in there!

At level 16, you should be done with IMD (E) or Siveria (L) and be able to move onto ZIT (E) or Frozen Frontier (L). Even better, you'll be able to get the 2nd partonage skill from one of the quests there so keep an eye out! You should finish up most of the quests in ZIT (E) or Frozen Frontier (L) and then head straight to Dead Sea (E) or Darkwater (L).

At level 20, you can go to Wild Isles (E) or Tenebra (L) and have some fun there if you've finished your World Mystery quests elsewhere. But don't move on without finishing those! They are important. At level 21, you can head to Dream Factory (E) if you so choose. Sorry, League, but you're still stuck there!

At level 22, you can finally go to the Holy Land. Don't forget, finish up your World Mystery Quests and check out Laguna Boil (E) or Darkblood Citadel (L) for some instance-punching fun!

Levels 23 - 27

And now the fun begins! After you've finished what you needed to in the previous levels, you can head to a very scary, very fun place.. Asee-Teph!

Asee-Teph is the first zone you'll encounter with open PVP. There are gankers, griefers, campers, duelists, rompers - you name it. They will try and beat you down no matter what! If you are too afraid to PVP, you might want to keep your flag down and avoid War Banners like the devil.

At level 23, you'll be able to start running Lab 13 (E) or Castle Blight (L). You must, must, must do those! They have tons of World Mystery quests in them and will help you so much. At level 27, you'll probably get the World Mystery quest to go into TT1 (Tensess Temple 1). If you can get a group for it, by all means, go! If not, wait until you're level 30 or so.

Levels 27 - 30

A few more levels.. go, go, go! At this rate, you'll have moved out of Asee-Teph and into Eljune, yet another open PVP questing area. Things should quiet down from here on out so feel free to do whatever you please, flag up or down!

At level 30, you are able to move on to Coba Plateau. There are quests there in Nezebgrad (E) or Novograd (L) to help you transition into it. At level 30, as well, you'll be able to pick up your quest for the 3rd patronage skill!

Levels 31 - 40

From here, you'll be running your way through Coba Plateau for a while. At level 34, you should be able to move out of there and into Coldberg. Don't worry, things get better and you'll be so happy when you hit level 40!

At level 36, you should start looking into getting a group for TT2 (Tensess Temple 2). Then at level 37, you can be scott-free of Coldberg! Head on over to Avilon but don't worry, you're not there for long and almost immediately after you can head to Dragon Ring.

At level 38, you can go speak to Yasker (E) or Aidenus (L) and find out about how to get to Yazes Shard. This will be your last zone before you venture off into Gipat, woo hoo! Just keep hanging in there and you'll be 40 in no time.

Once you've hit 40, congratulations! You can talk to the postal worker and get a stone to port you to Gipat. Don't forget this, I hear you can't go there without it. Don't forget to do dailies either - dailies means more experience, gold, loot, whatever! They can be fun. :)

Levels 41 - 47

Technically, you're already apart of endgame now! But just in case we want to go farther, there's still 7 more levels for you! Welcome to Gipat, everyone.

At level 42, you can move onto Kirah. The rep there is great and you should be doing that as well as questing your little butts off. Don't worry, you'll be in Kirah a while - up until you're 46, actually! At level 46, you can go to Isle of Revelation. Do your quests, do your dailies, do everything you possible can. It will be a long while for you to hit 47 but once you do.. it seems like it'd be so worth it!

Once you've hit 47.. congratulations! Yet another endgame Healer produced through hard work and determination! I'm sure we're all glad to have you. As much as I hate to say it, you may toss this Caster Healer build out the window in favor of a more endgame-oriented build or even go Full Healer! Enjoy the rest of the game!

FAQs

Why did you not take Heavenly Smite? With the change to the talents, Heavenly Smite is only good for it's stun.. and it's a poor stun at that now that it has a CD attached to it (does it? Can anyone confirm my suspicions?). It does not fall under the no-pushback-suffered part of Aspect of Light and is thus, a waste of good talents to me.

Why did you not take Devoted Plea? As you're not a Full Healer, you don't need this.

But.. but.. Aura of Potency? I realize that I should take this, yes. If you feel the need to, you can take the points out of Chain of Light and leave it at 1 and put them into Aura of Potency. I will not use it just yet though.

Holy Shield? Blind Faith? Why do we need to go so far with PVP skills? Actually, I find those useful in both PVP and PVE situations. Solo'ing something that's packing a punch? Holy Shield! Blind Faith it while you cast some more!

can i haz gold pls? No.. but thanks for asking.

Will you write up a new guide for other builds? I might. But for now, let's focus on this one! I hope you'll enjoy this one all the same regardless.

Your build sucks, blahblahblah cow. I'm sorry you don't like it. But you can tell me what's wrong with it and we can discuss it together. It might even make the guide better for those who need it instead of just bashing. :)

Where should I put my stats? You should put every single last point you have into Luck.

What kind of armor do I get? What weapon should I use? At level 10, you'll be able to wear Leather. At level 30, you can wear Plate! Neat, huh? As for weapons, it's up to you. I use a staff or a 1h and shield if I need the extra durability.

Some of the info is wrong... heavily tested the builds for the last 3 days.

Im evil but im vain...

So perhaps I will just reveal the least threathening one of the all.

Valiant Gaurdian: 5% Willpower per ruby, Nothing follows.
No effect on any skill/talent, no combination effect as well.
Sacred Word as you all know is used versus a player via HB/Celes
HB/Celes upon usage on the Light Aspect induces a 10s buff.
Upon induction of this buff you may use Sacred Word on pitiful victim.
Victim however is freed upon expiry of the prior buff, not the sacred word cast time
ie you cast at 9s mark of buff you only get like a 1s effect = fail
Saved HB/Celes from another aspect at times does not work,
Carried over Zealotry however from another aspect does work.
Sister skill Exorcism has no effect at all on the marked victim, hence my complaint earlier at another forum.
Sacred word is considered a stun and is therefore affected by any skill that reduce/limit stun effects.
Can be broken by numerous skill and evaded as well at the split second of casting interval.
As long as target is pinpointed, and skill is activated, the target is subject to the spell regardless of position around the caster to the effect of 30 yards.

I will stop here, im not interested in creating a wall of text
